Read Our Case Study
One of the main focuses is always on prevention and in our attempt to help patients understand the benefits of exceptional home care and routine visits to the dentist we conducted a study. A group of patients volunteered as test patients. Their complete oral health was examined including medical health and other factors. All these patients were in good overall health with no history of medications, medical conditions and the patients followed a brush, floss and mouthwash routine in between every meal consistently for six months. Periodic evaluation of oral health was done at three months and their oral health was evaluated with x-rays, intra-oral pictures and clinical exam at the three-month interval.
At their six months appointment, there was 50 percent less tooth decay and 60 percent less plaque and tartar deposits from previous appointments. Patients also reported that they felt healthier and had minimal sensitivity or bleeding on brushing and they felt an improvement in their overall health as well.
This experiment was conducted to evaluate and see if increasing brushing and including floss and mouthwash routine helped in improving oral hygiene.
Our Preventive Dentistry Services Include:
Dental Checkups & Cleanings

Dental checkups and cleanings are two of the most important and effective services we provide every day. Dr. Jaiswal will begin by examining your teeth, gums, jaw, bite, and existing dental work using her educated eyes as well as X-rays and intraoral images. And with a cleaning, one of our hygienists will thoroughly remove any plaque and tartar from your teeth, particularly targeting those areas your brush and floss can’t reach at home.

Dental Sealants

With a dental sealant, we can literally place an invisible barrier on a tooth that protects it from cavity-causing food particles, bacteria, and acids. We simply apply a clear, plastic-based substance to the teeth, and it quickly hardens into place. We most often use them for the back teeth, as these are the most likely to develop cavities. Sealants are great for children who are still learning to brush as well as adults who are prone to developing decay.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Bruxism is a condition where someone unconsciously clenches their jaw and grinds their teeth, and for many, it actually occurs while they are asleep. Over time, this can wear down the teeth, cause them to become more sensitive, and they can eventually break! If Dr. Jaiswal believes that a patient is dealing with bruxism, she can provide them with something called a nightguard. This is a small, custom-made oral appliance that is only worn to bed, and it works by placing a protective barrier between the teeth to prevent any harmful contact.

Fluoride Treatments

Regular fluoride exposure has been proven to strengthen the teeth against tooth decay and cavities, and it’s especially useful for children’s developing smiles. To make sure you and your family are getting enough to keep your teeth fully protected, Dr. Jaiswal can provide a topical fluoride treatment as part of everyone’s checkups. She’ll simply place a concentrated fluoride solution on the teeth for about a minute, and it will help replace the minerals in the enamel that have been stripped away by acids and plaque.

At-Home Dental Products

99% of a person’s dental care actually occurs at home with regular brushing and flossing, so as you can imagine, the products that you and your family use on a daily basis are extremely important to your long-term oral health. If you ever need a recommendation as to which products would be best for you or your child’s particular smile, you can always ask a member of our team for their expert opinion. If necessary, we can even provide a number of prescription-strength products that you won’t find in stores.
Children’s Dentistry

We absolutely love serving McKinney’s youngest smiles! We recommend bringing your child in for their first appointment as soon as their first teeth appear. Early-age dental appointments are one of the best ways to put your child on the path towards lifelong oral health. Many members of our team, including Dr. Jaiswal, are parents themselves, so we’ll know just how to keep your little one relaxed while we provide the kid-friendly services their growing smile needs.
Periodontal Therapy

Did you know that the health of your gums is just as important as your teeth? It’s true! Without proper oral hygiene, they can develop a very serious infection called periodontal disease. Left untreated, it’s actually the number one cause of tooth loss around the world! Because of this, we always screen our patients’ gums whenever they come to see us, and if we spot a problem, we have a selection of treatments that are capable of targeting and eliminating the bacteria right at the source.
