Digital x-rays are x-ray images that are captured using digital technology instead of traditional film. At Starlite Dental, we use X-rays every day to find and diagnose dental issues before they’re even visible to the naked eye. Compared to traditional film-based X-rays, digital X-rays create images in much less time, don’t require toxic chemicals to be developed, and they even cut down on radiation exposure by up to 80%, making the images faster and safer than before! Digital x-rays images can even be displayed on a nearby monitor for you to go over and better understand with Dr. Jaiswal.
When we need a little more information about a patient’s dental anatomy than what a regular X-ray can tell us, that’s when we like to use our CT/cone beam scanner. This device can create a fully 3D X-ray image of the teeth, gums, and surrounding oral structures, helping us see a patient’s entire mouth at the same time. With this image, we’re able to formulate extremely personalized treatment plans for more involved procedures like root canals and dental implant placement.
